Creation Connection Quarterly Potluck
09/09/2010 06:00 p.m. – 08:00 p.m. @ MEEC, Mt. St. John, 4435 Patterson Rd., Beavercreek

Every year one of our quarterly potlucks is reserved for a sacred spaces experience. We locate a church or religious organization that has created a special outdoor spiritual space. This year we will be at the Marianist Environmental Education Center (MEEC), located on the grounds of Mt. St. John in Beavercreek.

All are welcome. We will meet at 6:00 p.m. Please bring a covered dish (vegetarian preferred) for our potluck. We will discuss and experience 'praying in nature.' This will be an opportunity to reflect on the waning summer and welcome the cooler temperatures of autumn. The labyrinth will be available for walks.

For questions or to RSVP, contact Mary Sue at msgmeiner@yahoo.com.

Descendants Day
06/26/2011 04:00 p.m. – 08:00 p.m. @ to be determined

Every year, Creation Connection hosts an interfaith gathering to pray and educate around an issue of environmental justice. Descendants Day emphasizes Loving Your Neighbor Through Time, that is, reflecting on the importance of our choices on the lives of future generations. We share a meal and spend time in fun and fellowship as well. Several faith traditions provide leadership in prayer.

The site for Descendants Day 2011 has not yet been decided. If you have an environmental issue to bring before the community, please contact us at gdcc@christianconnections.org.

Previous years have found us at such diverse locations as the river’s edge, a gravel pit, a landfill, a Boy Scout camp, and the site of a proposed big box store. The emphasis in 2010 was on food, and we saw the community garden at the Dakota Center. In 2009, we met at Chaminade-Julienne High School, took a walk to the old train station, and prayed for equitable and sustainable mass transit for our region.

Our time together each year is a time of education, prayer and fellowship. Get to know others in the community who share a love of God’s creation!
